Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples ventured to question Him, “Who are You?”, knowing that it was the Lord. John 21:12 (NAS)
What an invitation! Jesus’ call to come and eat breakfast is not about food, but friendship. It’s an invitation to sit together side by side in fellowship, implying close acquaintance, affinity, and love. Jesus invites us into relationship, offering favor as well as renewal for those whose hearts are heavy. It is also an invitation into the companionship of fellow believers. We are not meant to dine alone. The closer we draw to Jesus, the closer we will be drawn to one another. Jesus calls us, as He called His disciples, into acceptance and redeeming love. Listen. Jesus is inviting you to breakfast.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for inviting me to draw near to You. I am truly grateful that You call me anew every day. Please help me tune out the distractions that surround me so I will always hear the invitation to sit at Your table.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
