“If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.’” By this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who have believed in Him were to receive, for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37b -39 (NAS)
Jesus’ invitation to come and drink is an offer of spiritual thirst quenching to satisfy the soul’s longing for a relationship with God. The invitation is universal, but personal. Coming to Jesus and drinking means believing Him and trusting in Him alone for salvation- one must recognize Jesus as the source of life, power, and provision. We are then promised an inward, overflowing filling by the Holy Spirit that will never run dry. The living water flows through the believer to bless others. This is an invitation to live a full, significant, and satisfying life that is only possible in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Dear Lord,
Please help me to live the life You invited me to live. Help me be aware of Your presence and mindful of Your power to produce overflowing rivers of life within my heart. I pray for the fruit of Your Spirit to be evident in my life.
I love You, Lord,
Amen.
