I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with jewels. Is 61:10 (NIV)
This verse is full and rich in imagery. A wedding is a time of joy and delight. The bride and groom are clothed in their best in honor of the occasion. Isaiah uses the analogy to reveal the way the Lord adorns His Son and the Church. God clothes His Church with “garments of salvation” and “robes of his righteousness.” How important we must be to the Lord for Him to give us these gifts! He makes all the preparations for us to be worthy and beautiful enough to be the bride of the Son of God Himself. We could never have done it on our own. We are so dearly loved by the Lord.
Dear Lord,
I cannot truly comprehend the enormity of the gifts that You have given me. You accomplished my salvation and ascribed to me righteousness I could never deserve. Thank You, Lord, for the gift that cost so much through Jesus on the cross. I know I can never pay You back, but please help me to rejoice in You and to tell others just how You have loved and provided for me.
I love You, Lord.
Amen
