So then just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Col 2:6-7 (NIV)
I love to read the words “rooted and built up in Him”- especially at this time of year. As temperatures warm and days grow longer, trees, flowers, and shrubs wake up from a winter nap. Plants can survive the winter days if their roots are strong and deep. We can survive life’s troubles if we are “rooted and built up in Him.” How are your roots this Spring? Do you feel overwhelmed with troubles? Do you sometimes feel like a tumbleweed, going in every direction when the wind blows (troubles occur)? God calls us to have faith and to draw our nourishment and strength from being deeply rooted in Him. Circumstances can change hourly, but God never changes. In Him we can withstand the winds and storms that will come our way.
Lord Jesus,
Please help me to stay steadfast in You. You are aware of all my troubles and storms. Thank You for loving me even when I forget to turn to You first for help. Help me to realize the more I put my trust in You, the stronger my faith grows. Thank You, Lord, for being patient with me time and time again.
I love You Lord, Amen.
