The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7 (NAS)
Biblical Hebrew has fewer than ten percent of the number of words we have in English, but the Hebrew words are deep and rich in meaning and often add to our understanding of the Scriptures. The word translated ‘perfect’ in this verse also means complete, whole, and flawless, highlighting the sufficiency and excellence of God’s law. The word ‘law’ refers not only to the law as given to Moses, but the entire doctrine of God- including the doctrine of Messiah and justification by faith in His righteousness. ‘Testimony” comes from the word ’eduth, which refers to an entirely reliable witness and emphasizes the trustworthy nature of God’s Word. God chose to reveal His heart and character to us primarily through words. How wonderful it is to realize that we will never exhaust the meaning of His message.
Dear Lord,
The more I delve into Your Word, the more I love it! No matter how many times I read Your truths, they are always life-giving and encouraging. Thank You for giving us Your Word so we can continue to know You more.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
