“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”   Matthew 6:10 (NAS)

With these words, Jesus teaches us to be mindful of God’s worldwide dominion. When we pray for His kingdom to be established on earth, we are putting His purposes before our needs. We are also entering into prayer that deals with the spirit world, asking that the forces of evil will be defeated and heavenly realities will be attained on earth. We enlarge the scope of our prayers from self to much larger concerns and we participate with God in His plans and designs. At the same time, we submit to His reign in our own lives and seek to let His kingdom values be evident in us and our homes and families. This is prayer as wide as the heavens and as personal as our hearts.

Heavenly Father,

Please help me to be a good steward of the gift of prayer. I know You hear every word I whisper and every plea of my heart. I know that You move in response to my prayers, and I am awed by the awareness that You cherish the appeals I bring to You. May I never take this for granted, Lord.

I love You, Lord.

Amen
