Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5 (NAS)
This is Joshua’s directive to the Israelites when they had camped three days by the Jordan River and were on the verge of entering the promised land. The river was at flood stage and overflowing its banks (v. 15), but rather than explaining how they would cross the turbulent water, Joshua tells them to consecratethemselves. Your desire to see God do wonders is not as important as your willingness to prepare to see it. Search your heart and repent from anything that disunites you from our holy and perfect God. Rededicate yourself to His purposes. To see Him do something wonderful tomorrow, prepare today.
Dear Lord,
We long to see Your mighty, marvelous acts. Remind us every day to immerse ourselves in Your Word, meditate on Your promises, and keep ourselves free from sin. May we always be prepared for Your presence and power to be displayed.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
