And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 1 John 4:16 (NAS)

God is love. Love is not an attribute of God’s character or a feeling He has; it is His fundamental nature- the core of His being. God’s love has no boundaries- it is infinite and eternal. He loved you personally before time began. Coming to know God’s love is not knowledge of facts, but intimate understanding. When we abide, rest, dwell in God’s love, we become part of His life and His love. The longer we walk with Him, the better we know Him, and the more we make His love the principle that guides us. Love flows from fellowship with God. Just as God’s love is revealed in Jesus, our love is revealed in giving of ourselves. We honor Him by the love we share.

Dear Lord,

Your love overwhelms me. I know You abide in my heart by the presence of Your Spirit. You strengthen, refresh and encourage me. You make it possible for me to show and to share Your love with others. Please help me to see people as you see them, and to love them in the power of Your Spirit.

I love You, Lord.
