-one Lord, one faith, one baptism,    Ephesians 4:5 (ESV)

There is some disagreement among Christians as to how baptism should be accomplished, but given the context, it is safe to assume that Paul is talking about believer’s baptism. Those who trust in Christ as Savior and make a public profession of their faith, follow His example and choose to be baptized as He was, in water. This is a beautiful, symbolic picture of identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. Baptism does not save us- it is a result of salvation and beautifully demonstrates the believer’s new life in Christ.

Dear Lord Jesus,

What a privilege we have to be able to honor You publicly in believer’s baptism! When we share the testimony of trusting and following You, we are all strengthened in spirit. We are so grateful to be united in one body through this beautiful ceremony that You instituted and modeled for us.

I love You, Lord.

Amen.
