For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:12 (NAS)
God is always at work in your life, even if you don’t see it. Whatever desire you have to please Him (“to will”), and whatever works you do to honor Him are evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit in your heart. Left to ourselves, we a fairly self-centered. We like convenience (our own) and comfort. But God calls us higher. We are to regard others as more important than ourselves (Phil. 2:13), and be humble, kind and patient (Col 3:12). The good news is that we are not expected to live the Christian life in our own strength. The Spirit of God indwells us, and we grow in grace as we allow Him to soften our hearts and shape our character. It is a sanctifying process in which we come to desire His will and find that what pleases Him, pleases us as well.
Dear Lord,
You are so generous in the ways You work in my life. You provide for me and bless me with strength, comfort and healing. You continually draw me closer to You and help me become the person You created me to be. Thank You for being a perfect, loving Father. Help me hold fast to Your love.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
