For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9  (NAS)

Salvation occurs by grace alone; God grants it because of His generous love for us. Salvation is freely offered, freely bestowed, and forever ours, once given. Nothing we do can increase or diminish God’s love for us. All our works must be built on the firm foundation of our relationship with Him. Whatever good we do is a by-product of that relationship, not a steppingstone to His grace. We can’t earn God’s love. It is already ours in a measure we can’t even imagine.

Dear Lord,

It gives me peace and joy to know that You love me not because of me, but You. You shower us with love simply because You want to, because it is Your nature-You are love. Thank You for the truth of Your Word. Thank You that my value is not based on anything I can achieve, but soley on Your love.

I love You, Lord.
