But an hour is coming, and now is, when true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. John 4:23 (NAS)
What does it mean to worship in spirit and in truth? Jesus explains to the woman at the well that true worship doesn’t depend on the name or place of your church, but the state of your heart. It requires an authentic relationship with God. Jesus reveals that the time “now is” because He has come. The Savior is here, and He is eradicating any ideas of worship except through Him. When we put our faith in Jesus (who is Truth incarnate), The Spirit gives us new life-a new spirit within. Our worship is not an outward display, but an inward transformation. True worshipers worship the Father through faith in the Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Dear Lord Jesus,
You came to live among us to change us completely. You are the way, the truth, and the life, and You enable us to worship in spirit and in truth. Please make us that kind of worshipers every day. When we gather, we pray that You will be pleased, honored, and glorified by the worship we offer.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
