When we are confident that we are the path God has planned for us, we feel inspired and stirred to move forward. Our goals seem reachable. But enthusiasm can fade quickly when difficulties or setbacks arise (as they are sure to do). So, right from the start, acknowledge your utter dependence on the Lord. Pray continually to be strengthened in your purpose. Remember all the times God’s faithfulness has sustained you in the past and keep your eyes on the One who knows all that the year ahead holds for you. It’s all for His glory.

Most gracious Heavenly Father,

You have never failed me. Even in the most difficult times of my life, Your loving hands have upheld me. As I step into this new year, there are a million variables, but You are the one perfect constant that outweighs them all. You are my rock, my unchanging God and King. Thank You for calling me Your own.

I love You, Lord.
