God shows His kindness in His actions toward people who have no claim on it. It is a fruit of the Spirit- a quality that comes from God as a result of love. His kindness compels us to act with love toward others, even though they deserve it as little as we do. They get a taste of God’s kindness by the way we act, which is intended to lead them to repentance. Paul even lists kindness as one of the proofs that he is an apostle. It is truly a spiritual skill of the soul. To whom will you be kind today?

Dear Lord,

Being truly kind requires the ability to see past myself. Make me aware of others as I go through my day. Remind me to show Your kindness in even the smallest ways. A smile at the harried mom at the grocery store or an extra measure of patience at the post office may mean more than I know. Let Your kindness shine through me.
