So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. Many more believed because of His word; John 4:40-41a (NAS)
Not all the Samaritans believed Jesus was the Messiah based on the woman’s testimony, but they were interested enough to go see Him for themselves and listen to all He had to say; the Bible tells us that many more of them believed then that He was the Savior of the world! Our testimony may not always lead someone to an immediate profession of faith, but we should always be ready to reveal the reason for our joy and strength. If we point others in the direction of Jesus, He will make the way clear. When we share the love of Jesus from a heart that values Him above all else, people will be interested. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to open their eyes to God’s love for them. Our part may not produce results that we see, but as in all things, we simply trust Him.
Dear Lord,
This long passage of Scripture speaks volumes about the impact of one unnamed woman for Your kingdom. We can learn so much from her. Lord, please give me a heart humble enough to be teachable. Your Word never runs dry; open my eyes to what You want me to understand and apply to my life. I ask You to use me Lord, even if I never see how.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
