I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Psalm 32:8 (NAS)
Most of us would say that we want to follow where God leads, but the truth is that we have a will of our own that we don’t readily relinquish. Pride, fear, feelings of inadequacy, and even laziness are ready to leap in the way when we try to discern God’s direction. As a child of God though, my goal is to surrender my will to His, to obey Him and allow Him to shape me into the person He created me to be; to soften my heart, lay down my own plans, and lift His will above mine. What is there to fear? Could my personal ambition ever be greater than what my Creator has in mind? I may have to adjust to new ideas, but I know He will never direct me to do anything He hasn’t already gifted me to accomplish.
Dear Lord,
I know I don’t always perfectly obey what You call me to do, but please teach me to listen to Your voice and surrender to Your all-wise, all-good plans for me, even if it is outside my comfort zone, and something I would never have pictured for myself. I trust You with my life.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
