Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.” Jonah 3:1-2 ESV
Can any of you relate to the story of Jonah? I admit that I have been guilty of running away from some “Nineveh’s”. God calls us to radical obedience and we may have unpleasant consequences for our disobedience. We may not be in the belly of a great fish like Jonah, but we still see those consequences. BUT GRACE! Do you see the radical grace in this verse? God gave Jonah a second chance. He called to him again and did not abandon Jonah. As children of God, His grace runs to meet us even when we stumble.
Father God,
My desire is to do Your will and to please You in every aspect of my life. But You know that sometimes I struggle to put my will ahead of Yours. Help me to hear Your voice and obey wholeheartedly. Thank You for being a God who abounds in steadfast love and lavish grace. Thank You for suffering the punishment that I deserve in order to receive Your grace. Help me to shower others with the love and grace that You have given me.
I love You, Lord. Amen.
