Starting everyday with the JOY of the Lord!

Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; And let those who love Thy salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified.”   Psalm 70:4 (NAS)

This is a big prayer. David’s prays not just for himself, but for everyone who seeks the Lord. His call is for collective praise- that those who seek the Lord will rejoice and be glad continually, acknowledging God’s goodness and faithfulness. Imagine all believers rejoicing and praising God forever and you have a picture of eternity. In context, the prayer is even more significant because David is in bad straits at the time. In the verses that precede and follow this, he cries out for God to hasten to deliver him from his enemies. In other words, David praises the Lord in the midst of his crisis, boldly praying for all who love God’s salvation to rejoice. He looks at God and His goodness more than at his own circumstances. Don’t wait to rejoice in the Lord until he has solved your problem or healed you. Focus on His greatness and power; praise Him with joy. Delight yourself in His salvation. Let God be magnified because He deserves it- He is Holy God Almighty.

Dear Lord,

David’s prayer is such a good reminder to honor You at all times. Remind me to keep my eyes on You even during seasons of difficulty. I pray that I will never let problems obscure my sight of You. You are God, and there is no other. You are my Lord and Savior, and I trust You with every part of my life. I praise Your holy name!

I love You, Lord.

Amen
