And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ. 2Thessalonians 3:5 (NAS)
Paul’s prayer is simple but profound. No matter what our circumstances, he prays that we will not lose heart. He asks God to remove obstacles and guide us into a strong love for Himself, so our hearts will be filled with and focused on our love for God, not on worldly attachments. Paul asks for us to have a deep, steadfast love for God, as modeled by Jesus. We can use Christ’s example for patience, endurance, and inner strength. The basis of every good work can only be love for God- not simply calm submission, but constancy and persistence in our love that is not distracted by the conflicting demands of life. God is enough.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your ageless Word. The prayers of the saints are as applicable to us as they were two thousand years ago. Remind me to keep my priorities straight, so that You are always first in my heart and my life. I truly want to honor You in everything I do.
I love You, Lord.
Amen
