Starting everyday with the JOY of the Lord!

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29 (NAS)

The words we speak matter.

God created all things by the word of His mouth, and Satan used words to entice Eve to eat the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. The words you speak carry enormous power to heal, affirm, and comfort. Your conversation can be constructive and encouraging, building others up, and strengthening them in faith. Just by the words you speak, you can make a difference in someone’s day, or even their life. By the same token, however, destructive, angry words spoken in the heat of a moment tear others down and can even unravel a relationship. Once spoken, you cannot retract your words, even with an apology. Even if your words aren’t vulgar, they can be harmful. Pause and think before you speak- are your words life giving or soul destroying? Are you speaking with kindness or criticism? Pray regularly about your words and ask God to guide you and renew your speech. Let’s be grace givers with our words.

Dear Lord,

I want to always be gracious with my words, but I know that sometimes I am not careful enough. Please forgive me for times I have hurt others by what I have said. Help me be slow to answer if someone offends me, and never to speak in anger or judgement. Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in in Thy sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (NAS)

I love You, Lord.

Amen
