Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.  Proverbs 30:5 (NIV)

Isn’t it wonderful to know that God’s Word is infallible, absolute truth! It is Divine revelation, proven trustworthy by many prophecies that came to pass hundreds of years after they were proclaimed. Jesus Himself frequently quoted the Old Testament. In fact, He declared His deity by the Word (John 8:58). We come to know God through Scripture. Every word nourishes our souls. But the proof of our faith in God’s Word is the willingness to alter our lives now for the promises of the next life. We cannot choose what portions of Scripture are valuable-all of it is 100% perfect revelation – meaningful truths about God’s character and how we are meant to live. The Bible is truthful in its teaching. In purity, it is flawless.                                                                                                                                                          In addition to light and direction, the Word is our shield. The Lord Himself is a defense for those who rely on Him.  It isn’t enough to know God’s Word is true, unless we take the next step and trust Him as our refuge and shield.  Is all your confidence placed on God and His Word? 

Dearest Lord,

I praise You for Scripture – the words You have spoken.  Your Word is the perfect manifestation of You and a firm foundation for me. Help me remember to stand on Your Word, to depend on it, to obey it, and to pray it. Thank You for the confidence I have in You, whom I have not yet seen, because of the gift of Your precious Word that I hold fast to every single day.
