Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 1Peter 3:8 (NAS)
What a great expectation for us from God! He summons us to godly living, and when the Lord gives us instruction, He gives us all we need to carry it out. God calls us to unity of spirit – to be strong together in the gospel of peace; to have compassion for one another rather than judging; to help and comfort one another in times of difficulty, and to love one another as Jesus taught. For His sake, we are to be tenderhearted and full of grace, in humility of heart and mind, not thinking more highly of ourselves than we ought. We are to work together in unity even though we are all different. Jesus called us to love one another as He loves us. These virtues are meant to be our normal way of life; the perfection of every relationship between us is fulfilled in love.
Dear Lord,
Your Word always calls me to self-examination. Search me, and show me where I fall short of Your intention for me. Help me to live as a godly believer in a spirit of kindness and humility. Grant me a sympathetic heart, and please remind me to be united with other believers in our resolve to glorify You.
I love You, Lord.
Amen
