And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;            Romans 8:26 (NAS)

Prayer is essential to Christian life; it is our most effective communication with God. But there are times when problems are overwhelming, and we are so troubled that we cannot even articulate our thoughts and feelings. Our hearts are too heavy to know where to begin. But we are never alone in the struggle- the Holy Spirit is with us and prays for us when we have no words. He stirs in us prayer that goes beyond our limitations, with “groans” that convey our deepest needs to the Father.  The Spirit comes alongside us not to remove the heavy load, but to shoulder it with us, and He makes our groanings into powerful prayers that silence fear and despair. When words can’t express our desperate need for God, we have a Divine Intercessor who can.

Dear Lord,

I am deeply grateful for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Your Spirit sustains and supports me; He strengthens me when burdens weigh me down. It brings me peace to know that even when my prayers are weak and my words fall short, He conveys my heartfelt prayers to You. It comforts me to know that the Divine Intercessor brings my most profound needs before Your throne.
