Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. 2Corinthians 9:7 (NAS)
God has a lot to say about giving, throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Have you ever wondered why? He certainly doesn’t need our money, and maybe we think we only have enough for our own needs. Other people have much more, so they can take care of the poor and the expenses of the church, right? But right there is the disconnect.
Anything we have is ours by the providence of God. He alone furnishes us with the financial blessings we have in this world. It is all His. We are the conduit through which He blesses others. Not us alone, certainly, but as a part of the body of Christ. Our tithes and offerings acknowledge His ownership and His Dominion over all. We thank Him and honor Him in our giving.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for providing for my every need. Please stir my heart to remember that it all belongs to You. You have blessed me to be a blessing. Keep me mindful that my tithing and giving are an important way to honor You. Help me to realize how truly wealthy I am because of you.
I love You, Lord.
Amen
