Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5 (NASB)
A friend asked me recently what I would do if I won the lottery (which would be tricky since I don’t play the lottery, but …), and after really thinking about what all that money would buy, I truthfully responded, “Not much would change.” I am aware of the pleasures wealth offers, but over the years, the Lord has blessed me and taught me what to value- and it is definitely not “stuff.”
The Lord of all creation loves me, and to make a way for me to be in relationship with Him, He sent His only Son to sacrifice His life for me. He has continued to bless me in ways I could never have imagined. Let them keep the things money buys. Just give me Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You. Why You would want a relationship with me is more than I can fathom, But You do. I am so grateful, Lord. Please keep me mindful that a world full of misdirected people need You, and show me how You can use me to help make that happen for even one of them.
I love You, Lord.
Amen
