“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”     Jeremiah 1:5 (NAS)

For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.   Romans 11:29 (NAS)

We often associate the word “calling” with occupations in ministry such as pastor, missionary, or worship leader. The truth, however, is that we all have a calling- a specific purpose for our lives that God ordained from before the beginning of time. While there are some noteworthy people in Scripture, such as Moses and Paul, to whom God spoke directly to reveal their calling, most of us will discern our God-given purpose as we walk with the Lord, stepping out in faith where He leads. Our talents, strengths and interests may indicate our calling, because God has gifted us specifically for the purpose(s) He intends us to accomplish. If you have never felt a strong leading from the Lord, don’t give up. The gifts He has given you are permanent. You have been divinely equipped to live the life God has planned for you. Be in prayer, seeking His will; then follow the guidance He gives you. Discerning your call may be life changing- in the very best way.

Dear Lord,

Please make me aware of the way(s) You have gifted me so I can fulfill Your plan and purpose for my life. Give me the willingness to see what you have called me to do, and the courage to step out in faith to embrace Your call.

I love You, Lord.

Amen
