Most of us would be hesitant, at first, to think God would interact with us as He did with King David, but this verse assures us that He does and He will. God makes His voice available to all of us. It is life-giving and full of love. So why do we doubt that we hear Him? Maybe all the other noise drowns Him out. The world is loud and full of distractions, and our internal noise can be a problem, as well. But God encourages us to listen. Find one minute away from the clamor; quiet your heart and your mind and invite God to speak. Then just listen. Be still. It may take practice-we are unaccustomed to being silent, but learning to hear the voice of God is invaluable. Will you incline your ear toward Him today?

Dear Lord,

Thank You for promising to speak to me. You are closer than any friend. Please remind me to stop and truly listen, and heed what You say to me.
