God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.  Genesis 1:4-5  (NAS)

Most people would say that day comes first, and is followed by the darkness of night. In this world we go from day to night, youth to aging, strength to weakness, and life to death. But that is not God’s way. Each of the six days of creation goes from evening to morning, one day. Every biblical day begins at sunset. Children of God live from night to day. We are born again in darkness of sin, and move to light; from despair to hope, from guilt to innocence, from death into life everlasting. If we live according to God’s perfect order, we will always be moving from darkness to light.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing light into my life. Each truth I learn draws me closer to You, and alters my perspective. Every night of my life leads to a new dawn, a new day to live out of darkness and into Your glorious light!
