Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls.   Matthew 11:28-29 (NAS)

A yoke joins a pair of pack animals for heavy work, such as plowing or dragging large loads (which certainly doesn’t sound restful). But Jesus tells us here that His yoke is easy. In truth, we are often weary not because we have too much to do, but because we take on the wrong yoke. We take on burdens we were never meant to carry, and we become exhausted and stressed. Instead, Jesus tells us to take on His yoke- the purposes He designed uniquely for each of us. When we do, we can trust Him to fulfill His promise, and we will find rest for our souls.

Lord Jesus,

I genuinely want to take up Your yoke. Please give me discernment, so I can follow You and accomplish what You want me to do. Help me set boundaries, so I will not be overcommitted and exhausted. Help me to focus on You and follow Your perfect plan for me.
