It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.  Galatians 5:1 (NAS)

Do you sometimes find Bible verses confusing? What does it mean? How does it apply to me? 

The good news is that God always wants you to understand His Word. Just ask Him to reveal the meaning, unfolding it a layer at a time for you. There is no stigma attached to asking Him for help. Self-sufficiency is a form of bondage that keeps us striving under the burden of accomplishment. You don’t need to try to be the perfect Christian. When we truly surrender to our need for Jesus, we are freed from the slavery of trying to do it all, be it all, or understand it all on our own.

Lord Jesus,

You are so good and so gracious. You humbled Yourself to take the form of man to provide a way for us to live eternally with You. Please keep me mindful of my own need for humility as I accept my inability to live the Christian life on my own. Remind me that You have set me free from the burden of performance as I rely completely on You.

I love You, Lord.
