You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. Galatians 5:13 (NIV)
An imperative for Christians, that we see modeled by Christ, is serving one another in love. Christ humbly demonstrated this attribute throughout His life, but none is more powerful than His death, burial, and resurrection. Christ served us through His sacrificial and painful death so that we could have eternal life. He also gave us this incredible gift so that we can be a blessing to others. Do you look for ways to serve? Perhaps you can help your family, assist those who are ill, or care for the elderly. You might engage in service projects with your Sunday school and church, or participate in a ministry outside your church. The possibilities are endless! Who can you bless with the love of Jesus that is in your heart?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of this day! Please direct my path and increase my awareness of how to be of service to You. Help me to identify opportunities to minister, and empower me to use my gifts and talents to glorify You. Remind me to serve with a humble heart, just as You did. Strengthen me not to grow weary, but to find joy and compassion in my service for You. May my actions and choices reflect Your love, commitment, and ultimate sacrifice for me.
I love you, Lord,
Amen.
