Starting everyday with the JOY of the Lord!

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.   Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

This Scripture, written by Paul to the church in Ephesus, still applies to us today. As Christians, we are to speak with courage, wisdom, and grace, and that can be difficult since we are challenged to speak to a secular world. Sometimes we may need to express truths or wisdom that others simply do not wish to hear.  However, we must speak in a way that draws attention and emphasizes the serious nature of our message. The key, Paul says, is to speak truth, but season it with love and grace, for the good of those who are listening. Reflect on your family, your coworkers, or classmates. Is the Holy Spirit prompting you to say something to someone that is in their best interest and spoken out of love? If so, allow the Lord to guide you with His grace, wisdom, and strength.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for Your guidance and Your love. Help me to be mindful of my words and speak to others only what is in their best interest and meets their needs. Grant me discernment and self-control, so that I will speak the right words in each situation. Help me to speak with kindness, and without judgment or anger. Thank you for the gift of communication and remind me to use it for Your glory and good.

I love you, Lord,

Amen.
