Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)
As Christ followers, we are to use our God-given gifts and talents to contribute to the Lord’s work. We are told in this Scripture that our work, no matter how mundane, is sacred to the Lord. These verses encourage diligence and integrity, even when no one is watching. When we live out our faith in everyday tasks, we reflect God’s love to the secular world, which unbelievers desperately need to witness. Reflect upon your daily life. Are there tasks in your daily life that cause you to roll your eyes, sigh, or procrastinate on because they are not your favorite things to do? If so, change your mindset and remember that service you do for others IS service to our Lord!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your precious gift of salvation. I acknowledge you as Master and Lord, and I seek to serve You well in my life. Please impress upon me each day the importance of carrying out my tasks with a heart full of gratitude and devotion to You. Lord, strengthen me to complete my work with diligence and joy, even when I work alone. I desire for my work, actions, and attitude to bring glory and honor to You, Lord and to reflect Your love to those around me. Please help me remember that serving You daily is the least I can do for all that You have done for me. Thank you for the eternal reward that is promised to Your good and faithful servant.
I love you, Lord.
AMEN
