Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. John 11:32-33 ESV
Jesus wept. John 11:35 ESV
Have you ever felt, like Mary, that Jesus was not present in your most painful moments? This passage shows the depth of Jesus’ empathy and love for His friends. Even though He knew that Lazarus would be raised, He still wept as he witnessed their deep sorrow and grief. I can rest and be comforted, knowing that Jesus is always close to me, especially in times of pain and sorrow.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Your Son, that He may comfort and empathize with me in my weakest moments. You know every pain, disappointment, and fear. I pour them out to You and lay them at Your feet, knowing that You understand completely. Heal my deepest wounds, and use me to comfort others with the comfort You have given me.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
