“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.” Isa. 41:10a
“Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 1:8
There are many instances in Scripture when God’s chosen people are afraid. But notice the way God speaks to them about it. He doesn’t tell them they are strong enough for battle or cheer them on from the sidelines. He simply states, “I am with you.”
God’s children still face frightening, overwhelming battles that make us anxious and afraid. But He knows and understands our fears, and does not leave us to face them on our own. Take comfort in the assurance of His presence. Jesus reiterates the promise to us. “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
Dear Lord,
You know all the fears and worries that sometimes assail me. Thank You for Your comforting presence. Lead me into Your Word to find strength. Remind me to reach out to You when anxiety begins to overtake me. There is no safer place to be than with You.
I love You, Lord.
Amen.
