Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. Matthew 13: 24-25 (NIV)

The Son of Man will send out HIs angels, and they will weed out of His kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.  Matthew 13: 41 (NIV)

Even if you are not a gardener, you probably hate weeds. Weeds often look like the cultivated plants they grow amongst, and can easily blend in for a while. In this parable, Jesus tells His followers that good and evil coexist even among Christians. Satan can plant counterfeit Christians with false doctrine among true Christ followers. We need to be aware that there are “weeds” among us, but it is not our job to judge. Jesus tells us He will handle the “weeds” in His perfect time. We need to continue to be planted in His truths and commands.  Jesus will eventually pull the “weeds.”

Dear Lord,

Thank You for Your Word. I pray that I will never take it for granted. It is breathed out from You. Help me to stay planted in Your truths and be alert, ready to defend Your Word. Help me to discern the weeds from the wheat. I pray for Your protection, Lord. Thank You for providing for me so that I can continue to grow in Your grace and truth. I know You love me and I am very grateful. My heart is full because of You!

I love You Lord, Amen.
