But the seed in the good ground – these are the ones who, having heard the word with an honest and good heart, hold on to it and by enduring, bear fruit. Luke 8:15 (HCSB)
This parable is familiar to many of us, but how does it apply to you and me? The seed is the Word of God. The original planter of the seeds is God, but Christ followers can also plant seeds. And just as earthly soil must be prepared for successful planting, hearts must be prepared to receive the Word of God and grow. The good ground in this verse yields a beautiful harvest, and if we listen to His Word with hearts that are open to His teaching, we too will bear fruit. God has given us His Word so that we can continue to grow in Him. Have you opened your heart to receive all that He has for you?
Dear Lord,
Thank You for teaching me Your precious Word in ways I can understand! Thank You for the parables You told to enrich our understanding and draw us ever closer to You. Help me to keep my heart as “fertile soil,” Lord. Help me to continue to mature in Your Word.
I love You Lord, Amen.
