If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.  For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  Colossians 3:1-3  ESV

What does it mean to set my mind on things above?  Realistically I cannot spend my time just daydreaming of heaven. (Although that is enjoyable). Likely it means that when the distractions of this life threaten to rob my joy or tempt me away from serving God, I am to focus on what is true:

1.  God is on His throne ruling and reigning over every molecule of His creation.
2. My citizenship is secure in the place that Jesus is preparing for me.
3. I am never alone to navigate this world, but have been given the Helper to guide me.
4. God is working out His perfect plan of restoring all things, and His timing is perfect.  
5. Evil has been defeated at the cross, so it may seem like the enemy is winning, but his time is short and his power is limited.
6. Earth is short but heaven is long.

Heavenly Father,

You are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  Thank you for loving us enough to send Your Son so that we can spend eternity with You.  Help me to live my life with eternity in mind, making the best use of the time You have given me.  Thank You for the gift of redemption and the promise of restoration, when all tears, pain, and sin are gone forever.  Send me to people who need to hear this good news today.
