When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can man do to me?  Ps 56: 3-4(HCSB)

Read these verses aloud. What do you think David, the psalmist, is telling us? Like David, there are times in all our lives when we are afraid. It could be walking through a health crisis, or the loss of someone we love dearly. Many things in life can cause us to be afraid, and fear can be paralyzing. But that is not the way God wants His children to live. David tells us exactly what he did when he was afraid; David trusted the Lord. He did not let fear overwhelm or control him. He also praised the Lord for His Word. Relying on God to help us walk through the dark times in our lives only strengthens our faith in Him, and faith in God leads to praising God.

Dear Lord, 

Help me to rely on You in times of fear. I know You don’t want fear to control my thoughts and feelings. Help me Lord to trust in You. I want to sing Your praises, Lord Jesus! I know You love and care for me. I will trust You!
