So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Psalms 90:12 ESV
The phrase “number our days” seems like an accounting term. It causes me to pause and consider whether I am using the time I am given for investments that will last into eternity or wasting time on temporal things that will not matter when this life is over? Which account will receive my deposits today? Am I storing up riches in heaven or wasting the resources God has entrusted to me?
Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray this Psalm back to You and ask You to instruct me, so that I may have a heart of wisdom. I want to be a good steward of the precious time You have allotted to me. Reveal to me time-wasters in my life, such as worrying about the future, people pleasing, social media, and the pursuit of earthly treasures. Help me to keep eternity in mind as I go about my day today. Help me to invest in things that truly matter. Interrupt any selfish agenda that I may pursue today and give me divine appointments so that I may share Your saving grace and love with others who need to hear.
I love You, Lord. Amen
