Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you so you must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:12-13 ESV
How many mornings do I stand in my closet wondering what to “put on?” Paul gives us a wonderful word picture in these verses regarding our “spiritual clothing.” Jesus modeled all these attributes for us during His time on earth and He can help us dress appropriately, equipping us to be His faithful ambassadors.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for paying the ultimate sacrifice so that I may be clothed in Your righteousness. Help me, through Your Holy Spirit, to be compassionate, kind, humble, meek and patient to all who cross my path today. Reveal to me any unforgiveness that I may be holding on to and help me to release it like a filthy garment. Most of all, help me to love others as You have loved me. Help me to remember that I am Your chosen, holy, and beloved daughter.
I love You, Lord. Amen.
