“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.”    Luke 6:27-28 ESV

When God instructs me to have ears to hear, I know that I must take some time to really listen to what follows.  His instructions in these verses seem difficult.  How is it possible to love the ungrateful, the unkind, and the wicked?  And to love them not just with words, but with actions?   My flesh wants to curse, but You say to bless and to do good just as You have done to us.  

Dear Lord,

Please grant me the ability to see everyone as You see them…. as people who were lovingly created by You and bear Your image.  Help me to obey Your command to love.  As You have lavishly poured out Your love and blessings upon me, let me give that love generously to others.  I was once Your enemy and estranged from You but now You call me “friend”.   Soften my heart to those who are difficult to love.  Remind me to pray for them and to look for ways to bless them.
