All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). Matthew 1:22-23 ESV
Christmas can be a lonely time for those of us missing loved ones, or who are unable to be with loved ones due to distance. And the day after Christmas can even seem lonely, after the parties are over and the guests have gone home. Thankfully, because of Christmas, we are promised God’s abiding presence, and we are never truly alone.
Father God,
Fill our hearts with the assurance of Your ever-present love. When loneliness creeps into our lives, remind us that we are never alone. Give us constant awareness of Your presence with us. Thank you for wanting fellowship with us and making a way for us to be with You forever. We praise You for being Immanuel.
We love You, Lord. Amen
