…and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1b-2
Our Lord Jesus, who was in the beginning with God, and who was God (John 1:1), chose to leave the glory of heaven and wrap Himself in the frailty of human flesh for “the joy set before Him.” He was bruised, broken, and humiliated. He suffered the torment of separation from the Father. What was the joy set before Him that He considered worthy of such anguish?
It was you.
It was me.
It was the joy of knowing that His sacrifice would result in our redemption and reconciliation with the Father. He alone made the way for our healing and peace.
Dear Lord,
It is impossible for me to comprehend the agony You endured to save the souls of men and women. But in my heart, I know that You would have done it just for me. You gave up everything for my forgiveness and salvation. I pray that I will never get over what You sacrificed for my sake.
I love You Lord, with all my heart and with all my soul. Amen
